Is it Eco-friendly and ethical ?

In some ways yes, and in some ways no. This term gets used so loosely on so many platforms. I want to spell out, exactly what I mean by it.

First of all, in every road one might take towards eco-friendliness, there will be flaws and no matter how perfect you are, you are still going to be using resources and energy for as long as you produce anything at all. For example, if you use organic cotton, you waste water and mono-farming is not the best for the soil. You make clothes from recycled materials, you save on material wasting but you still have to use energy resources to make it. Basically any form of production of anything is going to use something but there are smarter ways to do it.

Some important points to consider would be:

  • Is it made using minimal new materials?

  • Is it made using massive amounts of water and energy resources?

  • Is it made and cut consciously to minimize waste?

  • Is the waste dealt with in an eco-friendly way?

  • Where was it made and how far did it travel?

  • Is it long lasting material and something that I will lovingly get tons of use out of?

  • Is it going to be eco-friendly to care for? (dry cleaning uses tons of harsh chemicals)

  • Is it biodegradable?

  • Can I donate or recycle?

How we deal with these points:

  • Our garments are made using a mixture of new and recycled materials.

  • We hand make our garments, and do not have an industrial production system, which means minimal energy resources used.

  • We make and cut our garments consciously to keep wastage minimal as best as we know how and improving our skills daily.

  • The waste fabrics will be recycled into other garments by us, or passed on to facilities that use scraps for recycling.

  • We make everything in one place, we don't get some things made in China and ship here. The clothes will travel one time and that is when they travel to you. Our fabric is sourced locally unless its a smaller international cut bought from a fabric retailer.

  • Our materials are of high quality and long lasting. We are not a fast fashion brand. You can wear most of our designs throughout the whole year. Also, we only encourage you to buy things you love from us to prevent overbuying and possible wastage.

  • Few of our more avant-garde pieces may require dry cleaning but most can be hand washed, spot cleaned, or laundered. We recommend not using a dryer for any of our garments, to prolong their life. We are working on a "how to care" section on our website.

  • We can repair some of your damaged NAKED wear.

  • We are also working on creating a system where you can send us your worn out NAKED garments free of any charges and added perks for you, so we can recycle them to ensure them a happy afterlife.

Rain's Story

I, the creator of  NAKED, grew up in both Turkey and Canada which gave me a unique view and understanding of the world, as well as the skill to creatively mispronounce several English words.

Moving across the globe at the young age of 12 and a healthy dose of teenage angst newly added to the mix, my world seemingly turned completely inside out. I realised at this time that not everyday is a sunny sky. Soon after, I also realised that this is completely alright. Being human can be messy, and that’s alright. No need to deny our sadness, other 'negative' emotions and all of our true feelings as if they are some sort of shameful thing. Our emotions, the good and the bad, are a part of us and they need our acknowledgement and that is what this experience taught me.

Now 26 years old, I want to help us all acknowledge all parts of ourselves. This is the message behind NAKED, emotional honesty with ourselves, to acknowledge the bad and the good in order to bring us to make peace with the whole of us. Finding inner balance and expressing ourselves freely.

We all have a tendency to focus on the lighter things in society as we conceal and label darker things as evil and bad, however I want to rebel against this with NAKED. Encourage people to get in touch with their suppressed and perhaps darker sides through my designs and find harmony within themselves.

As another result of my big move across the globe, self expression turned into a hellish task for me. Not being able to speak the language past a few basic words grew my need to be heard intensely. My designs are my way of being heard, therefore mean a lot to me. However, in my life and in my brand I want to keep a good balance of what really matters in life and that is, to me, LOVE and CONNECTION.

'Don't hide, your soul.

You are a beautiful part of the mess that is human.'

My happy place is fashion! I love clothing. They say so much about a person's identity. They express so much without a word being spoken. It can hold so much meaning for so many which is so beautiful. Fashion is a common ground for us all, as we all wear clothes!

With my variety of skills and experiences as well as having worked as an in house assistant designer for a strong name in the industry, and I am equipped with all the right tools for the job. NAKED is my baby and I have what it takes to keep it alive and running.

NAKED Transparency

NAKED is something edgy yet comfy. My job is to make sure you feel authentic and amazing inside & out.

Naked has your best interest in mind when communicating, we won’t use catch phrases and fancy words to try to manipulate your interest. We want you to feel authentically happy, whether you choose to wear NAKED or not.  We will respect your autonomy and individuality because you are perfect as you are.

Naked at it’s core is built on the idea of clothes that reflect your most vulnerable, hidden sides through style. It is to expose your soft v u l n e r a b l e , beautiful and dark side <3 We love that side of you. It’s beautiful just as much as all other sides of you and it needs more credit! With that being said, we vow to do our best to be just as transparent and vulnerable with our brand.
